My sundae ice-cream was really cold!

On Saturday the 27th of August, my mum and I went shopping at the Warehouse in Sylvia Park. It took us an hour to get there because there was traffic on the road.

As soon as we arrived, we went straight to the Warehouse to get a pair of shoes for me for my birthday party on Wednesday. I got some puma shoes because it was my favourite icon. We also bought some new clothes for me. They were very colourful and interesting.

After that, we went to the counter to pay for my shoes and my clothes. Once my items were scanned, they were put into a plastic bag. I was so excited because I had new clothes and shoes for my birthday party. Then I went and said to my mum, "Thank you for my clothes and shoes."

Soon after that, we went to buy some ice-cream from Mcdonald's. I had a ice-cream sundae. An ice-cream sundae is ice-cream that is put into a plastic cup and it can have vanilla or chocolate syrup on the top. It was delicious and cold. My mum had vanilla ice-cream on a cone with a chocolate flake on the top.

Eventually, we went home because I was exhausted and we had finished all the shopping that we needed to do for my birthday.

My favourite part was when my mum and I had ice-cream because it was sweet and just what I needed to end a wonderful afternoon.

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand and follow the structure of a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write an introduction, follow by the events and then a conclusion of my birthday shopping with my mum at the Warehouse.

I like playing 'go home, stay home, with my siblings!

On Saturday the 13th August 2016, my family and I went to my aunt's birthday party. It took us an hour and 20 minutes to get there. We celebrated her birthday in a hall and it was a cloudy day.

After we arrived inside the hall, we went to go and sit in front of the table. We stood up when the birthday girl arrived. My auntie was turning 21. After she came and sat down on her chair we all sat down on our chairs as well. After that, my uncle said a prayer for my auntie and a food prayer for all of us. We all put our hands together and closed our eyes for the prayers. When the two prayers finished we went to line up in the line for the food. I saw my two best friends and I was so excited. I got myself some food. I got some egg salad, beef and a cup of fanta. The egg salad was delicious and cold and the beef was chewy.

We wanted to have some ice cream, however the line was long so we decided to play a game called go home stay home while we were waiting. I was in first and I counted to ten while my two brothers and sister went to go and hide somewhere. After that, I found my little brother and my sister, but they stuck together and went around the building and tagged on the wall before I was able to tag them.  I had fun and enjoyed playing stay home, go home.

Later on, we went to go and wait for the ice-cream again. I got vanilla, chocolate and a jelly. My little brother just got strawberry and vanilla. When I eat my ice cream, it was cold and the jelly was smooth and wobbly.

Finally we all went home because the party had ended and we all felt tired.

My favourite part of the day was when I played go home stay home because it is fun to play with my siblings.

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand and follow the structure of a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write an introduction, follow by the events and then a conclusion of how my families and I celebrated my auntie's birthday.

Do you get nervous and scared when you say a prayer in front of your families?

On Saturday 6th of August 2016, my families and I went to visit my auntie who has just arrived in Auckland. The weather was cloudy and sunny. It took us an hour and 50 seconds to get there because my auntie lived in Mt.Roskill.

Before we arrived there, we went to go and get some food from KFC. We bought some chicken, chips and coca-cola. After we went inside, I went to get the plates and cups because my mum said, "Go and get the plates and cups so that you can make the food for them." When I got the KFC, chicken and chips I placed it in the plates and handed it out one by one to my mum, dad, grandma, aunt and grandpa. Then I got the cups and place the coca cola and gave it to my families one by one.

Then I went upstairs and played on my little nephew's tablet. I played a game called Biking. In the game, you have to pick a player and choose a level. I played the game until 9:00pm. My mum called me and told me that, "You have been playing on the tablet since this morning."

After that, we went to the Happy Days. When we arrived inside the centre, my mum paid us to get a table. While my mum was doing that, I went to get my little nephew out from the car. I was excited because this was my aunt's first time coming to New Zealand. After we got our table, my mum told me to say a prayer. I was nervous and scared because this was my first time praying in front of my mum and my auntie. At the end of my prayer, my uncle stood up and said our food prayer for us.

Later on we went to go and get some food from the food area. I had vegetables like beans, sliced carrots and lettuce. I also had chips and rice. When I ate the beans, sliced carrots and the lettuces it was yellow and chewy. When I ate my chips, it was crunchy and when I ate the rice it was nice and cooked really well.

Finally we dropped off my auntie home and then we went home.

My favourite part of the day was when we picked up my auntie to  celebrate at Happy Days because she has came back from Tonga.

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand and follow the structure of a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write an introduction, follow by the events and then a conclusion of how my auntie has come from Tonga and how we went to Happy Days to celebrate her arrival.

Poor Dory, she has short term memory!

On Saturday 23rd of July 2016, my families and I went to see Finding Dory at the movies. The weather on Saturday was nice and sunny. We went to the hoyts cinema at Sylvia Park. It took us 30 minutes to get there.

When we first arrived there, we went to buy some snacks from Pak'n'Save. We bought lollies, drinks, chips and chocolate. Afterwards we went to the movies. On our way to the movies, we saw my auntie and her siblings. Their names were Victoria, Chloe and Max. When we saw them, my mum asked them if they wanted to come with us to watch Finding Dory and they said, "Yes!" so we bought them movie tickets as well.

I was so excited and happy when my cousins and their mom came because I can now share my food with them. Later on we went inside the theatre and looked for our seats. When the movie started, I took out my lollies and my chocolate. When we finished eating all of our lollies, we ate our chips. The chips were all delicious and crunchy.

Finding Dory is about a small, light blue fish with yellow fins named Dory, who was looking for her parents whom she lost when she was a baby fish because she suffers from short term memory loss. Two clown fish named Marlin and Nemo helped Dory to find her parents.  Dory had an amazing adventure, she met a friendly octopus named Hank and she also met up with her old friend Destiny the whale. At the end of the movie, with the help of Dory's friends they found her parents, Jenny and Charlie. I liked Finding Dory because it was funny and an adventurous movie.

When the movie finished, we went to go and play tag at the park. I was the runner and my cousin Chloe was the tagger. I had a lot of fun playing with my cousin.

Finally my families and I went home because we all felt tired and my dad needed to sleep so that he has energy for work the next day.

My favourite part of the movie was when Dory found her mum and dad with the help of Nemo and his father when she was stuck in a tank full of other fish.

Learning Intention: We are learning to understand and follow the structure of a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write an introduction, follow by the events and then a conclusion of how my families and I went to watch Finding Dory at Sylvia Park.
